远看长城，它像一条巨龙，在崇山峻岭之间蜿蜒盘旋。它东起山海关到西到嘉峪关，一共有二万一千一百九十六点一八千米长。长城在古代是一座易守难攻的伟大的工程！它兴建于秦朝，长城有一万三千多米长，据粗略的计算，长城还能绕地球一圈呢！怎么样，够惊人吧！长城是用巨大的条石和城砖筑成的。城墙顶上城墙铺着方砖，十分平整，像很宽的马路，五六匹马可以并行。城墙外沿有两米多高的成排的垛子，垛子上有方形的了望口、射口，供了望和射击用，城墙顶上每隔三百多米就有一座方形的城台，是屯兵的堡垒。打仗的时候，城台之间可以互相呼应。今天的长城虽然没有了军用价值，但是长城还是旅游胜地。长城是中华人民共和国民族的象征，是世界重要的文化遗产。
